Fitness hotels and gyms in Nagoya
Nagoya is located between Tokyo and Osaka and has some good tourist attractions but when it comes to fitness gym, they are all concentrated between Natoya station and Sakae station. There are 10 local gyms which sell a day pass to travelers but only 4 of them are in convenient location. 6 hotels have a gym but some of them charge even you are a hotel guests because gyms are operated by 3rd party companies. Explanation of each icon of color on the map and my recommendations are as follows.
Please note that upmarket hotels (over $300 per night)are excluded in this map as they all have fitness gyms. This blog is for low-mid budget travelers only.

Hotels with fitness gym - Red icon on the map
Recommendation: Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel stands out in many aspects though it is on the high side of mid budget. It is within the Nagoya station building which has many restaurants and shops. It is very convenient to go anywhere in Nagoya or even to other cities such as Tokyo or Osaka. The gym is also great and hotel guests can use it for free.

Fitness gyms which sell Day Pass - Black icon on the map
My recommendation goes to Gold’s Gym Nagoya Sakae. They are in the middle of main Nagoya business/entertainment area; Sakae. They sells a day pass to travelers. You need to bring your passport for ID check and it costs approx. $25 per visit. This gym is not so visible from outside. The easiest way is to find a building “Annex” and take an elevator to 9F.
Verulio Athlete Culb is also not bad as it costs only $15 per visit.
Heat24 has a handful gyms in Nagoya area and they sell a day pass to travelers. It cost $20 per visit. You need to bring your passport for ID check.
If you are a hard core body builder, you can try Jurassic academy. This gym is owned by a local professional body builder “Jurassic Kizawa”. It is far from Nagoya central area and there is no hotel nearby. You can visit and use this gym at $20 per visit.
If you are going to the gym 3-4 times a week during your stay, Finest is a good option. They sell a weekly pass to travelers at $100 per week (they do not sell a day pass)
<TIP> Each gym has a different opening days/hours and it changes every now and then. So please check their websites before you go.
<TIP> In Japan, one day use at gym is called “Visitor”. They do not use the term“Day pass” or “Casual”. As most of gym staff do not speak English, the easiest way to explain at the gym is to say “Visitor” while showing your ID (=Passport).
Hotels close to local gym which sell Day Pass - Purple icon on the map
Purple icon hotels on the map do not have fitness gym but they are within 10 minutes walk from one of the local gyms above. You can choose a hotel depending on your budget.
Please note that almost all fitness gyms in Japan do not like to see Tattoos. If you have one, please make sure to cover it during your workout.
