Naha is a gateway city of Okinawa island which is a very popular summer holiday destination in Japan for beautiful beaches and unique culture. It is reasonably big city and has many hotels. There are 5 local gyms which sell a day pass to travelers but some of them are far from the central area. 6 hotels have gym and some of them have good gyms and hotel guests can use it for free. Explanation of each color of icon on the map and my recommendations are as follows.
Please note that upmarket hotels (over $300 per night) are excluded in this map as they all have fitness gyms. This blog is for low-mid budget travelers only. Almost all fitness gyms in Japan do not like to see Tattoo. If you have one, please make sure to cover it during your workout.

Below gyms (black icons on the map) sell a day pass to travelers. Among those, if you want stay close to the main area, Sports Palace Xistus is the best option. You can buy a day pass at $20 per visit. Wired Gym is good gym and also in convenient location but it costs $35 per visit.
<TIP> Information about opening hours and its fees are in each icon on the map. All fees are calculated with US$1=100yen (e.g.$20 = 2000yen). All Gold’s Gyms accept the credit card but most of local gyms accept only cash in Japanese Yen. In Japan, one day use at gym is called “Visitor”. They do NOT use the term “Day pass” or “Casual”. As most of gym staff do not speak English, the easiest way to explain at the gym is to say “Visitor”. Most of local gyms require the ID check. So it is better to bring your passport with you.
If you are serious about your workout, staying around Sports Palace Xistus would be the best because there are many hotels around it and you can chose it depending on your budget. Among those Almont Hotel Naha-Kenchomae is a good option because it is close to the main shopping / restaurant area. Residential Hotel 183 Naha is a service apartment and it is a great value for money. Outside looks a bit old but inside is nice and cool. It is also walking distance from the beach.
