Tokyo >> Asakusa
Asakusa is often described as "Kyoto in Tokyo" because of its traditional atmosphere. It is home to the famous Senso-ji Temple, and the surrounding area is filled with historical streets, local shops, and restaurants that preserve the charm of old Tokyo. It is one of the most popular and enjoyable destinations for both domestic and international visitors.
If you would like to combine sightseeing with exercise, there are two local gyms in the area that offer day passes for visitors and tourists. Asakusa also has a wide range of reasonably priced hotels, making it an excellent base for exploring Tokyo.
The following gyms are selling day passes to tourists in Asakusa.
Health Gym: Red icon on the map. Open 10.00-19.00. Day pass costs JPY3,300 per visit. Spacious and great facilities. Check the official gym website.
Anytime Fitness Asakusa Azumabashi: Purple icon on the map. Open 10.00-18.30. Day pass costs JPY2,000 per visit. Anytime Fitness typically does not offer day passes, as it is generally reserved for members. However, this location does welcome visitors with day-pass access. The gym can be a little difficult to find because it is located inside a building, so it is worth checking the official website for directions before your visit.
To avoid embarrassment and disappointment at the gym, please read this Tips and etiquette before going to the gym in Japan.
Recommendation: Anytime Fitness Asakusa Azumabashi is more affordable and conveniently located. If you're planning to visit the popular Tokyo Skytree, you can stop by for a workout on the way and then continue on to the Skytree afterward.
