Gyms for tourists in Ikebukuro 2024

Tokyo >> Ikebukuro

Ikebukuro in Tokyo is a huge entertainment city with many shops, restaurants, an aquarium, the Sunshine Building observation deck, etc….It is a relatively economically friendly city with reasonably priced shops and hotels. There are 4 local gyms that sell day passes to fitness travelers. 3 of them are far from Ikebukuro station. You need to take a train for 1 stop (or walk 20+min). See my recommendations below the map.

Recommendation: Ikebukuro Sports Center is a public gym. Typically, the public gyms are inexpensive but poor quality. However, this one has excellent facilities. It is a bit far from the main area, but it is walking distance from Ikebukuro station are. Hero Gym was opened by a famous bodybuilder in 2019. This new gym has a great facility, and it costs only $20 per visit (low price in Japan).

If you want to stay in a convenient location, Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo Ikebukuro is a great option. This reasonable 4-star hotel is a 2 min walk to Ikebukuro station, and an airport shuttle bus is available for both Narita and Haneda airports. For fitness travelers, the local gym in the same building is available at a cost of $15 per visit. You have to buy a ticket at the hotel reception. Also, you can go to Nishi-Ikebukuro park for jogging. Check out the review and price from here.

Another good hotel in this area for fitness traveler is Sunshine City Prince Hotel. This 4-star hotel is part of the huge shopping mall, which also has a great viewing deck and the highest-altitude aquarium. You can also walk to Ikebukuro Sports Center . Check out the review and price from here.
